Is your networking style not working? Three strategies to improve your success

Is your networking style not working? Three strategies to improve your success

 1. Do not collect cards, collect assets; Hunting for suppliers, not possibilities. Think of yourself as the center of a cycle with many of your contacts as spokes. It’s not about me; It's about you. You are the person in the conversation who may have a problem with the homeowner. Perhaps you know an attorney or mediator who can help. You are the new acquaintance who works with app developers like a notebook and your cousin. Communicate between this person and the person who will benefit from such skills.

2. Engaged in pre-event marketing to form a welcoming committee. Before attending a networking cocktail event organized by an industry group, chamber of commerce or professional membership organization, check out the host’s website. Make a list of officers and committee chairmen; Identify their email addresses. Send a note to everyone one week before the event and indicate your interest in joining the team. When they respond to your email (or LinkedIn connection request), indicate that you will be wearing a green tie (male) or a red jacket (female) so that you can find each other in the crowded room. Learn all you can about events, organizations and why they joined. Ask to be introduced to another officer. Work the room to meet many of the leaders on your list. With this approach to a welcoming committee, you go from an outsider to an insider.

3. Ask questions about problems and solutions. In the conversation, find out how the new acquaintances have problems and shakes up the situation and learn how they solve and resolve these issues. Asking what the highlight of the year (or quarterly) working with your clients was gave the respondent a chance to brag about their success. People are always interested in talking about themselves and often don’t have the opportunity to go to the stage enough. You will learn how an individual can align with your contacts for a solution provider or future collaboration.
